The proximity sensor cable, also known as the induction flex cable, is responsible for turning off the display when the iPhone is held to your ear to ensure you do not dial. It also adjusts the screens brightness based on the environment. The sensor is mounted on the mid frame. To replace the proximity sensor the proximity sensor cover will need to be removed.
